Upper Colo Wetland Field Day
9.30 am – 12.30 pm Sunday 20 November
St Joseph’s College, Colo Outdoor Education Centre
1389 Upper Colo Road, Upper Colo
WetlandCare Australia is joining with the Hawkesbury-Nepean Catchment Management Authority to host a wetland field day at the Saint Joseph’s College Colo Education Centre.
The day will feature an inspiring talk by Jeff Cottrell from Willow Warriors and Friends of the Colo. Jeff will talk about adventure conservation and his success controlling invasive Black Willows from the Colo River.
Huw Evans from the Hawkesbury-Nepean CMA will be talking about catchment management initiatives in the area and screen the short film “A Landcare Journey.” The film profiles three heroes of the Landcare movement.
The group will then explore two local wetlands, comparing and contrasting a pristine billabong with a wetland in need of some help.
The day will conclude with a planting activity followed by lunch.
Bookings are essential. Phone Renee Pearson, Hawkesbury-Nepean CMA on 4725 3058 or email Renee.Pearson@cma.nsw.gov.au
The Upper Colo Wetland Field Day is funded by the Australian Government’s Caring for Our Country program. WetlandCare Australia is the leading national not-for-profit wetland conservation organisation, dedicated to supporting every Australian to protect and restore our precious wetlands.
