Ramada Hotel and Suites Ballina Byron support wetland initiative
The Ramada Hotel and Suites Ballina Byron has joined with their Community Environmental Partner, WetlandCare Australia to sponsor the 5th annual WetlandCare Australia National Art, Photography and Short Film competition. The Ramada has donated generous accommodation packages as prizes in the competition, including two weekends at their Hotel and Suites in Ballina with a combined value of $960 and a 3-night stay at Ramada Breakas in Vanuatu.
The competition, which opens in September and draws entries from around Australia, is currently the only national event held to celebrate World Wetlands Day. World Wetlands Day is an international day of significance declared by the United Nations to celebrate the signing of the Ramsar treaty to protect wetlands around the world. With categories for children, youth and adults in art and photography, and a short film category that is open to everyone, the competition is growing in popularity each year with over $10,000 worth of prizes on offer across the categories.
Liz Hajenko, coordinator of the WetlandCare Australia National Art, Photography and Short Film Competition, said of the sponsorship 'It's wonderful to see the generosity of the Ramada Hotel and Suites Ballina Byron in providing these prizes. We always enjoy working with the team from the hotel, and we hope having such great prizes in the competition will encourage more people than ever to enter, and help spread the word about the importance of our wetlands'.
The Ramada Hotel and Suites Ballina and Byron has been involved with WetlandCare Australia in many environmentally focused activities, including staff taking part in monthly environmental field days and tree plantings hosted by WetlandCare Australia, and providing information for guests on ways to reduce their carbon footprint at their Hotel and Suites in Ballina
The WetlandCare Australia National Art, Photography and Short Film Competition will be open for entries in September.
