Budding Artists at Work at Townsville’s Water Week Celebrations
WetlandCare Australia joined other community groups and government organisations to celebrate National Water Week in Townsville recently.
Conservation Volunteers Australia organised the fun packed morning of events and entertainment, held beside a constructed wetland at Fairfield Waters. Activities included water quality and fish monitoring demonstrations, water bugs and weed identification, free native trees, face painting and a free sausage sizzle.
Townsville’s Wetlandcare Australia’s Program Leader Terri Buono said “The display we shared with NQ Dry Tropics was a hit with the kids. Many children enjoyed sitting down with us and creating unique wetland pictures and paper animals.”
WetlandCare Australia is the leading Australia not for profit wetland conservation organisation. They have an important message to convey to communities to ensure our wetlands are preserved for future generations. WetlandCare Australia team of wetland experts and educators look forward to being involved in other community events across North Queensland.
