WetlandCare Australia was commissioned by the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) of New South Wales to prepare a SEPP 14 Compensatory Wetlands Plan (CWP) for three identified compensatory wetlands in March 2007. The CWP was for works pertaining to the upgrade of the Pacific Highway between Brunswick Heads and Yelgun on the far North Coast of NSW Construction work for the project was completed in July 2007. WetlandCare Australia has been commissioned to undertake the maintenance and monitoring of the site as set out in the CWP and agreed to by stakeholders involved in the project. The site is to be monitored for 10 years, the first year being 2008/2009. Yearly reports will be submitted for 2008/09 and 2009/10, followed by biyearly reports for 2011/12 to 2017/18. The aim of the monitoring reports is to ensure that the objectives of the compensatory wetlands plan are achieved and the health of the Brunswick Heads wetland sites is maintained in the long term.
